Even with the release of the MPC 5000, Roland's MV 8800 looks better for quality, build and work flow. Unless you are thinking of an MV 8000. If that is the case, the MPC 2500 is great. You should go to a music store and test them yourself, because you are your best judge when it comes to equipment like that.

Good Luck!

I have an MPC 4000. Wouldn't trade it for the world. The screen is easy to see and I like the way it keeps my files organized. I also have it hooked up to my computer USB. I make and edit sounds in pro tools then drag and drop them into the 4000. The sequencer is easy yet very accurate too. What ever you decide, it's about your creativity and pushing the envelope.

Na its a proven fact that the Roland MV-8800 is the best workstation available. I own it and have owned the MPC 2500. The MV-8800 is WAAAY better then anything Akai ever came out with. It has its own sequencing software built in. Has a Mouse port and a VGA port so you can plug any VGA computer monitor into it and literally use it just like a computer. There so much stuff that I can compare but it would take too long.

8800 all day.

Lol.... MPC has a nice feel and "sound" to it... I've got the MV and its crazy. The learning curve is what typically rubs cats wrong or that it's not like the MPC they used before... The 2 are very different from one another. The MV is my choice...plus it's a mix of hardware and software with the usage of a mouse and VGA out for an external monitor.
