Its really by preference but if you low on budget and need some keys.. i bought a M-Audio Keystation 49e for $100 at best buy..
its a nice board..not to fancy...but it gets the job done...

i got a korg k49 midi controller that i got for 100 at guitar center and it is a solid azz keyboard i like it because it reminds me of the triton feel the way the keys are built its nice though

I use the Novation X-Station 25.I like it because it's a controller as well as an interface. Plus it has a S/PDIF output, 2 midi outs 1 midi in, 2 XLR inputs,USB ect. The touch pad on it can create some next level effects to a sound too.
