my personal preferece is the Behringer Truth B2030A...they are powered, not that expensive and the sound quality is very high. most monitors arnt too heavy on bass, but these pound hard. there is industry standard monitors that have a white inner core and black box but they are said to be the worst sound so if you can get your beat sounding good on them than you can use any monitors for mixing.

I heard that brand is a good brand. I was thinking of getting some inexpensive monitors, but I rather start off with a known, good brand.

I was looking at some monitors that cost like $100-150. Is that too cheap? Does the price matter at all?

I got some KRK Rokit 5's they are 150 each, worth every penny, they aren't that expensive but expensive enough to wear you get good quality. Cheap monitors get you cheap sound, get it? lol save up and spend something

yo E... if your looking for ones that make the mix.. mackie 624s or 824s, or any of the KRK V 2 series . if your spending range is under 2 -4 bills alesis m1 all around range , nice lows... or go for the KRK v4s, or the events, also get into headphone monitors for the sub refrence. i use sony mdr 7506s cost me a bill at guitar center .. i have event tr6 powered monitors.2 duckets on ebay . there aright on getting a nice high end... but if you got the bread, get the mackies 824s they are 20hz-20khz. you could really tweak frequencies and punch detail within the dynamic range.. hope this helps my dude.. peace fam

Youll never get good monitors for that price. Save your money until you can get something worth getting.

I got the KRK Rokit 5's with the KRK RP-10 S subwoofer. Sometimes GuitarCenter has a deal for that entire package for like 600 or 700.

I feel ya on that. why pay now? don't get me wrong, i know it would help, BUT once i buy better quality monitors i wouldn't have to get them again.

Are those KRK good? I know they're a great brand, but i'm talking about your personal opinion.

Personally .. I use Resolv 80a's. When it comes to home studios/project studios .. i think budget is the main factor. I wouldn't go to cheap & i would most definitely go with an 8inch woofer. The mids to mid-lows are more reliable with an 8inch. It fills the pants more na mean

If your goin with KRK -- go with the VXT series if you can afford a lil extra.
