I do this when I feel like using midi. Other then that hell with reason. Too many limitations. Reason is nice with stock sounds but ima hardware dude so software sounds are almost meaningless to me.
At the end of the day all that matters is what you're capable of doing with your mind. The mind is where the music comes from.. the software/hardware is just the canvas in which the musician uses to translate thought into art. There are people who have 100,000 dollar studio's makin trash because they suck. Then there are 15 year olds making beautiful music with nothing more then reason and a midi controller.

Reason is a true composers program - if you guys are having trouble with sampling in reason try using Recycle by propellerhead thats the sampling software you need - With reason and the capability of making your own original sounds to use in your beats is one of my favorite features - with devices like the NN-XT, NN-19, Malstrom, Sub-Tractor, ReDrum, Matrix, all the built in standard plugins (reverb, delay etc.) but my all time favorite the Combinator provides millions of sounds to use - and on top of all that the factory soundbank will provide you with at least as many sounds than a $4000 Triton - Fruity Loops is cool to but i find the best results for me come right out of Reason

I swear people need to stop talking about FL vs Reason. They do the same thing.
I use FL studio because it's easier and has VST capabilities.

FL v R is necessary, and could be a lively discussion. see, people like myself just got they R4 runnin. but I still dont have my surface, and for that I refuse to touch it.
I can add what I probably said already maybe in this very thread,
Reason is dope, but you really need a controller or you're not going to like using it.
FL will also make use of your controller but even without one, it's GUI just invites so readily...
it's sofa king easy to use.
I dont think that a program being easy to use should be a mark against it or it's users.
programs are all designed to make a diffcult task easier.
Right?
anyway I still prefer FL 7 to FL 8
when I quit one o these jobs I'll get some time ta ucfk wit my shit and then I'll tell you which program I prefer once and for all...

clever?

lol @ somebody mentioning 9th wonder. i remember when 9th mentioned that he was using FL, then everybody ran out and downloaded it to see what's up. LOL, dont matter what anybody uses. cant do shit without any talent or creativity. you need to bring that to whatever your using. without that...then it's a wrap.
...now, personally, i use FL when it comes to software. i just found it easier to use, and jump in. if you're using stock sounds, then it's RIP for you...you should NEVER use that shit. hardware or software. you need your own sounds. that's like somebody going hard using stock AKAI sounds on the MP.
...with reason, a couple of heads up here did get it right. reason works real good if you got some type of hardware or controller connected to it. think it's bred for it.
i got both, but i use FL more. i mean...why jump to something else when you already mastered one? unless you just cant do shit with one...looking for a way out...

Mac (Logic Pro 8) is coming out hard and Cubase and Reason are good choices. Although Big studios still use Windows and Fruity Loops (Like Pro Tools). Coolio came out all in Fruit Loops Gear the other day...

I'm hopefully gonna get my hands on both. I use Reason for my originally composed beats, but there are alot of features in fl that i use for my sampled beats. FL is really a beast when it comes to sampling in my opinion.
