I learned something this past week or so that will take ur production and audio recordings from blah, to WOW!!! One simple piece of equipment
a WORD CLOCK
If you use protools, or if whatever interface you are using has a Word Clock Input, please believe it, u should get one. Basically in Digital Audio everything is based on timing and the timing of those samples. The better your samples are aligned and played back real time, the clearer your samples, the closer to real time the are, the crisper your music will sound.
Im always one to quickly say na it dont matter or, it aint worth the price, etc But I promise you, if you have a lil budget, and you looking for a good investment that will instantly impact your sound. Look into picking up a Word Clock. The one I have is from Antelope Audio, and ran about $1,500 but its worth a million.

wow lol, i dont think its worth it, this just comes to me naturally, words per bar or however u put that lol or the main chorus..i think a good producer doesnt need this tool...it shuld just come to them...same thing with samples..just match the words with the beat and do ur own style for the main hook...easy

its obvious u dont kno what Im talkin about. This has nothing to do with chopping samples when it comes to production or writing bars. This has to do with how the audio is processed, regarding playback and recording.
How can I explain this with out being to complicated.....ummmmmm
ok when u recording something right, its recorded at a certain time in digital space. now your interface has to process not only how the sound itself sounds, but also where in real time it has to be, based on when u recorded into protools. So when ur interface has to process audio and keep the timing of all the audio, and by timing i mean digitally, not like the physical bar or line on the grid, when this happens, ur recordings, etc encounter latency, while the untrained, unexperienced, uninformed ear may not be able to tell, this is called "audio smear" now when u stack 5, 6, 7 of these recordings the latency become more and more, and u get a muddy, unclear audio picture. Given ur comments DJ, you don't have a grasp of this concept, in the manner I am speaking of. What a word clock is its keeps the time for all your recordings, all ur audio, so all your interface has to worry about is processing the audio. Therefore there is less to no audio smear, and everything is bright clear and on point.
If ya don't get that you need to do more research when it comes to recording audio in a professional, high quality environment.

well, instead of arguing, i'll thank you for the tip, and accept i was wrong, i dont know what you mean. thats true. i feel like i dont need it because i have everything already that satisfies me to create my beats
and thats all that matters to me is the sweet sound i get when i throw my drums/samples/synths all together..
i'll keep it at that level for now, but im sure when im not so young and new at this i'll love to have a tool like this. peace

i think he is talking about recording sound off a microphone/instrument bro. i don't know what a world clock is, but i'm a do my research. if it's $1,500 - it must do some good. lol. and that word "audio smear" sounds like it's a really bad thing. i am already investing in a better pre-amp for recording vocals, but i'm a def look into this world clock too
