oh yea i was thinking about getting some KRKs too as my first monitors(i mix on my KOSS headphones)
are they good quality?
The MPD32 is a fantastic set of pads and I use it mostly for Drums and stabs, then switch to the Axiom for rhythms, It has a shit ton of knobs and faders for controlling anything in software and there are presets for pretty much every piece of software out there. Can't beat it's a TANK.
Thanks for the props folks. Also I noticed a few folks out here are saying that "software only" can still make bangers. Keep in mind really I'm still only using "software only" (Reason 4.1 for the beats, Sound Forge for mastering, and Acid for recording) to make and produce my music. These hardware pieces (The M-Audio Axiom and AKAI MPD32) are both midi only controllers are just used to control it and get a feel for it.
You can definitely make jams without any hardware but for me I need that visceral feel of something I can bang on, reach out and touch, etc. It also speeds up *my* workflow now that I've gotten used to it.
Also, these KRK Monitors are KRK RP5 Generation 2's and are worth every single dollar. I would recommend anyone that has these set them to -6 at maximum for most applications depending on how hot your line level is.
