Neither, get the KRK RP5 G2 monitors for $149.99 a piece :

You *absolutely* can not go wrong here. If you have 199$ to spend per monitor I recommend going with the KRK RP8's as they have better and lower bass frequency (but they are heavy)

The M - Audio's your looking at are extreme shit.
In all the bad ways possible, they are just oversized computer speakers, sure you get them, you will learn to mix on them, but when you play your music on a KRK series it will sound totally muddy and wont have any bass at all.
Don't base a monitor on the way it looks, they're actually not heavy at all, because M-Audio is too cheap to put anything inside of them. Secondly, why would you want a speaker that just has all bass? You want it to be equal and balanced with crisp highs and level lows so you can mix properly. Krk's are mastered, there's been so many versions they've proctored all the bugs and fixed everything and are practically the best monitor on the market.
My opinion is to spend 100 more bucks, wait a week, it will be worth it, you can't rely on reviews, because you get dumb people thinking they can mix writing them.
Don't buy those M-Audios, if you do i'll smack you, go with the KRK's he mentioned.
P.S ( Those Fostex's are sold at wal-mart :0 )

I also highly recommend KRK. I have the V6 Series II and I love them.
Gear: Mac, Motu Traveler Firewire Interface, KRK V6 + Sub, Korg PadKontrol, Axiom 61, Fender Guitars

Exactly, you cannot, under any circumstances go wrong with a KRK. I'll smack you too if you buy those M-Audio's lol.
Get the KRK RP8's if you can afford it or the KRK RP5 G2's, or the V6's like McKenzy has you can't go wrong with any of their products they are heavy, solid, well built, and very precise (almost as if they came out of an identical mold).
Make sure you get some isolation foam (I've yet to do this) to isolate the monitors from the surface you have them resting on so you don't mess up the acoustics and make sure the port holds are as clear as you can make them for your situation. To be honest I started with 1 KRK RP5 G2 and then bought the second one about 1 month later (yes I was doing mono for a while, with headphones to check other things), but you simply *cannot go wrong with KRK*

Perhaps good, depends on your ear but KRK has the proprietary yellow crazy polymer speakers and the aramid glass tweeters and whatnot. Pretty stout and good bang for the buck for anyone and in this price range you just can't beat (In my humble opinion, it is what it is and you have what you have).

I Think using less "Professional" monitors make da muzik better, because if you make your beat or song sound good on "OK" Speakers they'll sound good everywhere from your car stereo to you computer or ipod...

The important thing with monitors is buying something "accurate". The NS10's are in every major studio because if it sounds good on them, it will translate well everywhere else (think of them as the ultimate judge). So I wouldn't say buy something less "Professional" because that might not sound accurate...buy something with a flat sound, not too much bass, not too much treble. If you mix with monitors that are bass heavy, you will tend to turn down the bass in your mix resulting in tracks that lack bass. The same thing applies to monitors that don't have enough bass, you'll end up with too much bass on your final mix. You want THE TRUTH! I also recommend comparing your mix with your favorite CD's, try and get it as close as you can. Goto somewhere like Guitar Center and play your favorite CD on all the different monitors, and go with what you like. Also, the room you are mixing in is very important...

Props to you sir, the KRK's I've noticed to be flat but just like McKendry said go with the flattest and truest monitor you can get! This will get the best representation of what 92-98% of the rest of the speakers in the world will sound like. (or at least based on the listeners preference since they can always tweak EQ, loud settings, etc while banging the block)
