I compose all my shnit. I used to sample and just about everybody ate it up but one day I gave it up because I couldn't find a single good logical reason why I should continue to sample. Now that I create my own melodies and everything, I feel like I can do a hella lot more with not only tha melodies but tha overall feel.
No matter how you look at it, samples limit you in many ways. You can try and manipulate a sample but tha sample stays a sample, you can only mess with it. Now if you use one shot samples then that's not sampling, that's just using instruments and allows you all the freedom you can handle. There's more freedom and originality when you compose.
Now I know there are many of you that'll disagree with this but I have yet to hear a logical reason why we need to sample, $ excluded of course. Sure you can be creative with samples but it will never be 100% you, comin all from the core of ur creativity and how far you can go. You can only work around a sample, no matter how much you manipulate it and add instruments to it. That's what i've found.
