PLEASE listen to both beats and give an honest vote. That's all I ask. May the better beat win. GL Tri.

Correct me if i'm wrong but did you use "Westside Underground Hip-Hop Construction Kit" on this beat? Some of the drums, I'm pretty sure, are from that program as well, but mostly it was that background melody you had goin with those strings and the intro was from that program as well.

Yes I use melodies from sample CDs on some of my beats. Was it that CD? I don't remember. I play my own drums and bass and add my own sounds. Does it really matter? A hot beat is a hot beat imo. I hate people that come out and say NO SAMPLES like they should get a pat on the back. Most of the time you can tell there's no samples because it sounds like shit! lol

for real!!! just because someone composes all of their beats does not mean their beats are good!!! everyone should make beats a variety of different ways...

I understand what you mean but loops are different from samples, unless you use what I call lazy samples, where you just put an "unedited" (on your part) sample and put it on a loop. I'm simply wondering, how many of your instruments in that beat was a loop. I know the violin was a loop and some of the drums (because that construction kit has a distinct form of drum patterns), I just wanted to know how much of that beat was on a loop.
And don't think im accusing you of making a beat
with just a bunch of loops on it. A hot beat is a hot beat, and creativity is creativity. And I know you're creative with your work, I just wouldn't want to find out that you use a bunch of pre-made loops that you leave unedited. If you use samples, I could care less, as long as you stay creative with it.
What did you mean exactly when you wrote "Most of the time you can tell there's no samples because it sounds like shit!"? Are you implying on the extreme side that
if you don't use samples, then your instruments sound like shit? Be specific as possible

Look dude I don't need to explain my creative process to you at all. I know what your saying about using all loops. I chop majority of my shit. I don't use straight loops all the time. It's no different then using a loop from vinyl. If the loop goes with the song your trying to make then you go with it. If chops go better then you go with chops.

I'm not saying you have to use samples. My personal opinion is it sounds best when you combine the 2. I'm talking about when dudes are so proud of the fact that the whole beat is composed and you can tell because it sounds ABC 123 with off notes and shit. It's like yea there's no samples but maybe you might sound a little better if you use a sample until you get to the point where you can play good enough to make a beat all composed. That's what I'm saying.

I don't wanna know your creative process.
Yeah, I never liked when dudes make simple beats and they sound horrible, but i'd still rather hear a beat without samples that's got some interesting instrumentation, than a beat with samples on loop with interesting instrumentation. It's like putting dog crap on top of a good sample. At least with an original composition you'll be crappin on your own work, u know? But sampling vs original composition is an old and overdiscussed topic so let's skip that.

I was wondering, on "Maximum Vibe", what all on that beat are samples?

Keep wondering. Who the fuck are you the sample police. If I want to use a loop on certain beats then I can. If I want to chop a loop I can. If I want to play I can. You don't like what I do who cares. Do you and don't worry about me. End of discussion!

You're weird man. Are you reading something you think I wrote? Did I write something against samples? I don't care who uses samples! "If I want to play I can."? What does that mean?
I never wrote that i'm against what you do, I just wanted to make sure you weren't using unedited loops to make up ur beats.
If that makes me the loop police, so be it.

for about ten years & you can check out my stuff for your self! I pride myself on being a Producer/Musician/Songwriter capable of creating "something from nothing"! Peace ""DaMill"
